Dana Fulwiler Volk

CEO

Dana is a global wellbeing and education leader with two decades of experience spanning K-12 education, higher education, non-profit, government, and entrepreneurial sectors. Her work sits at the intersection of wellbeing science, learning design, and systems change with a focus on helping individuals, organizations, and communities create meaningful, sustainable impact and conditions that enable thriving.

Dana holds a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also served as an Assistant Instructor, and a Master of Education, with award-nominated research focused on cultivating sustainable cultures of wellbeing in schools. Grounded in both research and practice, she is widely recognized for her creative and strategic leadership, her ability to translate complex science into accessible action, and her commitment to designing systems in which people can truly flourish.

Across her career, Dana has led and contributed to high-impact initiatives. Her work includes designing award-winning learning resources for the International Coaching Federation; co-authoring a Forbes-featured white paper on digital wellbeing and a book on educator wellbeing; securing major grants to advance school-based mental health initiatives; and contributing to public policy and decision-making as one of five experts appointed to a landmark Child & Youth Wellbeing Review in Alberta, Canada.

Dana is the Co-Founder of Teacher Fan Club, an educator wellbeing and gratitude movement that has reached more than 100,000 educators, families, and leaders worldwide. Through its podcast, wellbeing services, and partnerships with organizations such as Major League Baseball teams, the Greater Good Science Center, and global thought leaders, Teacher Fan Club helps bring parents, community, and educators together in celebration and support.

An experienced facilitator, program designer, and sought-after speaker, Dana has led large-scale appreciative inquiry initiatives across education and corporate settings, co-designed and researched innovative professional learning models, and taught in Canada’s first mandatory wellbeing course for pre-service teachers at the University of Calgary. She is deeply passionate about helping individuals and communities fulfil their potential and flourish across all aspects of their lives.

At the heart of Dana’s work is teaching. She has been a classroom teacher, international student coordinator, and system specialist in wellbeing and mental health within Western Canada’s largest public school district, the Calgary Board of Education, which serves more than 140,000 students. She is most proud of the thousands of students she has taught – from grades 7-12 through to undergraduate and graduate – many of whom she remains gratefully connected to today, including those who are now educators themselves. This lifelong connection to students continues to shape her belief that wellbeing is not an “add-on,” but a foundational condition for learning, leadership, and collective flourishing.
